Basic Bank Account - Online Application?

I'm looking to open a second joint bank account (for baby-spends) which I won't require any form of overdraft for. After all the scary threads about setting off, I'm going to be looking outside of my existing banks but I can't seem to find anyone who will let you apply online.
Is this just so they can upsell me to a "full" account? Does anyone know of an Internet-only basic bank account, or one with online applications?
Thanks

If offsetting is your main concern - you could try First Trust Bank - they are based in Northern Ireland and accept applicants in England , Wales , Scotland
The link below contains a picture of my bank cards for your information

The account can be opened without a branch visit and internet banking is available :cool:Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

Thanks all for the range of answers! I think I might just man up and use the phone - co-op sounds like a good bet as basic accounts don't really attract interest so might as well have an ethical bank grow fat off my cash!0

Co-operative bank still ask you why you want the basic bank account the cashminder and say why don't you apply for a current account but they not as bad as the other banks plus I am with them and they have super customer advisers and they are quick to pick the phone up.0
