hsbc visa

Got a new hsbc visa debit card recently.

Just went to use it on Ebay and it wasnt having any of it. Although ebay says visa debit is ok to use. So then i found a barclays visa debit card and it worked.

The difference is my HSBC card just has a visa logo, the barclays one has the same but with Debit written under it.

Any ideas why this is? Not the best as now I have to shift money.

PS my HSBC actually does have Debit written on it just in top right instead of bot right as per barclays

My HSBC Visa Debit works on ebay and is processed as an international transaction.

As Lokolo has said, make sure your card is activated.

According to my card I got on Saturday the only options to activate are Phone and Internet Banking.
  • For HSBC Visa Debit Cards as soon as you Insert this into one of their Cash Machines or Self Service Machines it does activate it for you without having to use Online Banking or calling the Number on the Card/Letter.
