My father died last year, before he died he said he had a large amount of money for my mother, he told us in hospital and had problems talking but he did say Avco, I have contacted citi about this as they have taken over avco, I have written that it would be a life insurance, but all I have had back is a standard letter saying they need mortgage account no, he never had a mortgage with them, after the seventh time of getting this letter I just dont know what to do, my father never had any paperwork relating to Avco, but when he told us he was dying this was his last chance to tell us, he wouldnt have made a mistake, please please can anyone help me with this???

Have you tried looking through his old bank statements to trace any payments which were made to Avco?0 -
Selden has a good point regarding the bank statements.
Also, I think it's probably worth writing to Avco, enclosing your father's death certificate and the grant of probate/letters of administration/confirmation to show that you are entitled to deal with his affairs, and telling them that you believe he had life insurance through them. (If you're not your father's personal representative, get that person to send the letter).0
