So good karma is trading the car into a dealers without declaring the problems. Hows that any different than selling it to a private seller?
Or is it ok to crap on dealers?0 -

The dealers won't care anyway, if it's not a noticeable issue they'll shove a dodgy MOT on it and flog it on without touching the problems.
It's ok to crap on dealers, but in fact your actually crapping on some poor sap who'll eventually buy the car.
As for "bad karma", a car is a car and in my experience it's always "better the devil you know, than the devil you don't". Selling a car because it's had a few issues is just daft.
Look after a car, check it's levels, listen out for odd noises before they turn into expensive repairs...... Why do women (yes some men too) just turn the radio up and pretend they can't hear the metalic grinding noise coming from the engine bay?
Basically, selling a car because it doesn't look after itself is beyond daft.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

There is nothinng wrong with having a re-conditioned gearbox. If it is kosher (best of all factory re-conditioned) it will be as good as new. Having spent so much on the car, I'd tend to keep it.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Well thats my point really, no one could claim 'good karma' for trading a car in to a dealer and saying nothing.0 -
I sold a car once that was nothing but trouble, I put this on the e-bay advert and told the buyer that i thought it was cursed! He still bought it, had trouble with and threatened to sue me, even if you do the right bthing it can still come back to bite you. I would sell it privately and just be honest as to what you've had done.I have a lot of problems with my neighbours, they hammer and bang on the walls sometimes until 2 or 3 in the morning - some nights I can hardly hear myself drilling0

Most people do.
About 90% of cars we get in PX have something serious wrong with them, despite them "being the best that they've had and how sorry they will to see it go..."
And "its never let me down"
And "oh its never missed a beat"
etc etc...
Took a car in swap a few month ago and I said to the man, or !!!!!! as he is now referred to "I'll just nip up the road in to to make sure it drives ok". He got twitchy...
Anyway, as I pulled out, I noticed a Fishermans Friend on the speedo binacle. Nothing odd there really, as people do leave things like that. So as I moved it out of the way to reveal the engine management light!0 -
ah yes harvey it always amazes me that whatever car your selling always has a few imperfections and so they want money off but the punters car is always mint, well apart from the trolley dent on the rear quarter, the lacquer peel on the front wing and the soggy carpet in the footwell!0

It works the other way round too, you know. Unscrupulous dealers will wind the odometer back and mask all sorts of problems with their tricks. I read of one once who put sawdust in a noisy transmission - well it worked for about as long as the poor sucker of a buyer's test drive.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
