mobilephonesdirect - absolutely clueless

2 weeks after placing an order from mobilephonesdirect, my new eagerly awaited phone HTC Desire finally arrived this morning. The retailer had some stock issues due to the volcanic ash incident but I received my phone so I was happy...
Until I found out they told tmobile (network I chose) that the phone I purchased was a Nokia N900 :wall:, and therefore I wasn't eligible for the 3GB monthly data plan all android phones (HTC Desire) should come with as standard, and tmobile is unable to change the phone listed on their system since it wasn't their fault. I contacted mobilephonesdirect but the advisor I spoke to had no idea what I was talking about and as a solution offered me a refund after I send it back at my cost.
However, I eventually managed to get through to a lovely tmobile customer service rep, who added on the 3GB data plan and made a note on my account about the incorrect handset, so it's now all sorted.
Thumbs down for mobilephonesdirect - I'll never go near them again with a bargepole.
As a warning, when buying contract phones from a reseller, please be careful & find out exactly what you are supposed to get, and make sure you do some research on the company as well.
Thanks for reading my rant
