Trying to swap but all seems very expensive!

Our gas & elect monlthy dd have risen from £51 to £92. We are out of the fixed contract (which I dint realsise we were in) but all of a sudden it all seems very expensive.

So I am looking to swap, which is something I just cant get the hang of despite you all explaining it to me!

So I go through USwitch and it tells me that npower fix 2 duel fuel can save me around £120. So I go through Topcashback who are offering £80 and direct to npower who are now telling me that my monthly payments will be £68.87 a month. Granted a saving on £92 but I worked it out on £51 a month as there are only two of us afterall.

Am I doing something wrong? How come I am getting two very different quotes?

And have gas & electricity charges really shot up that much since we last swapped???

Depends when you last switched, but possibly yes. We also just got through the coldest Winter for 30 years, so presumably, like most of us, you used more fuel.

Your figures seem reasonable to me £92 for both seems quite reasonable at todays prices

Axiom: Two people should pay £51.

Proposition 1 £68.87 contradicts Axiom and so is illogical and impossible
Proposition 2 £80 contradicts Axiom and so is illogical and impossible

Your logic is flawless, a Vulcan would not pay any amount other than £51.

NPower is obviously lying to you to make you pay more.

Yes, starting from when I had my skiing accident.

Hi shomk - Forget the monthly D/Debit figure and concentrate on the annual cost - Working on quoted D/D levels is a real sucker punch that will bring BIG adjustment bills to your door later on

Do your homework on the last years bills to find the total Kwh used, then use more than one Switch site - I always use switchwithwhich who show the detailed costs from your old supplier and the new, side by side
    Good Luck
