husband has a credit card bill of about £1400 due to a trip to the World cup.I got him a nice 0 % deal with capital one and stressed to him that he MUST NOT put any purchases on it, as he'd get interest on them....I even put the card away so he wouldn't use it...so what does he do? Couldn't find his wallet the other day and bunged £150 deposit for a holiday on the card as it was the only one he could find! AAggggggggggHHHHHHH!!!!

Well what did you expect - Bless Him:rolleyes: !!I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

Scissors? Photocopy it first, so you have the number in case you need to BT, and then chop!0

Ahhhhhh....don'tcha just love 'em?
If I don't want to use a card again, I always cut them in half so I can't accidentally mess up.0 -
I think the idea of freezing them in ice is a good one."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)
"We were born and raised in a summer haze." Adele 'Someone like you.'
"Blowing your mind, 'cause you know what you'll find, when you're looking for things in the sky." OMD 'Julia's Song'0 -
Why not put some blackcurrent cordial into the ice so that the number can't be made out until the ice is all melted (stops temptation)?0

Don't tempt me! I wanted to chop it up the minute he got it, but he wanted to keep it in case he ever needed the number for any reason....I'm finding a better hiding place from now on though...
We both give ourselves pocket money each month and this debt is coming out of that, so really it's nothing to do with me, and doesn't have anything to do with our family budget but once you get into this MSE lark you become a missionary wanting to spread the word, don't you?
I told him I was opening a new current account before and his answer..." Don't tell me, you'll get money back from Quidco!" He knows me so well.....0 -

:rotfl: He must be related to mine. I too have confiscated 0% cards to avoid the inevitable, only to find that he's
a. Used some of those bloody cc cheques that they send through - that have a £25 fee when you use them!!! Not to mention all the interest of course.
b. Took some cash out on the card (cos it was hte only card that would give him anyting) but then paid it back in really quickly the same day, thinking that they wouldn't notice and that he wouldn't get charged!
If it wasn't so annoying it'd be quite sweet really.

It would be kind of neat to have a place for all the spendaholic types who like to live beyond their means to go cold turkey (The Buyer-y?!). Perhaps Martin could fund one with his MSE charity moneyEek! Someone's stolen my signature! :eek:0
