Is it just me or is the moving a little over enthusiastic?

Can't say I've noticed0

I've noticed!
It's annoying, as is the constant thread merging, but I guess that's just the way things are done here.0 -

I think its great that mods a working hard to trying and keep the boards easy to use and navigate, esp with the bashing they get!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

Hi randomer,
Is there a specific thread thats been moved that has annoyed you or are you just talking in general?
The thing about the Old Style board is that unlike most other boards, the questions rarely go out of date.
For example, a question on the I wanna board along the lines of ''I want to buy a laptop'' or an offer on the grabbit board etc could be out of date within a few days because the offers would change. However on the Old Style board, a question like ''what can I make with mince'' etc has already been answered many times previously, so it makes sense to link to a thread with all the previous answers.
Generally we (the board guides) link to threads that may help the op and once the new thread drops down the board we merge them together so that others asking the same or similar questions in the future can find the replies together.
Likewise, if a thread is not specific to Old Style and has dropped down the board with few replies we will move it to a more appropriate board to see if the OP can get a better response.
As always, if you have a complaint about MSE or other posters (including board guides) the best thing to do is to contact the forum team. You can reach them by sending an email to abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.
In the meantime, I will move this thread over to the Site Feedback: Questions & suggestions board where the team are more likely to see it.

I knew when I was typing it that it was a bit ironic, but it genuinely is the best place on the forums for the OP to get a response.

It's not the moving so much, more the merging that does my head in!
If I ask a question, I don't want it to be merged with another one after a few hours only to be lost and get a few responses. I also don't want to have to read through half a thread of people's silly and irrelevant (to me) questions before I find useful info when I do a search for something. It also stops the threads from flowing properly and sometimes makes reading old threads very difficult indeed.
It seems almost every thread is getting merged at the moment - in the long run this will see us ending up with loads of really long threads that hardly anyone uses because they can't be bothered to read it all!
It wouldn't be quite as bad if the forum search facility wasn't so badly designed. I am VERY IT literate - in fact, I build websites as part of my day job - so I am quite used to doing online searches but I find the MSE search to be almost useless when trying to find previous posts; so I post something again, only to be told it's already been answered and then I get merged.
Don't get me wrong, I think the mods do a very good job and they're always very helpful and active on here but I do think something needs to be done before the board becomes impractical to use.
