Hi, I hope soemone can help and advise please?

ive just had my renewal through from green flag (recovery plus is what we are on). This has gone up by £36.75 since last year. However ive noticed that you can use your clubcard vouchers and purchase recovery for the RAC. Ive NEVER traded any of my vouchers in as i always used them against my shopping. (wrong thing to do i know) The offer they are doing that looks good (not really understanding) is reference P8000 £28. Does this mean the car is covered for both me and my husband? or is it per person? which means i praps should look at p8001 and i hope im reading it right. that this covers roadside break downs and recovery to any where in the uk? because the rac roadside will only recover you for 10 miles then you have to pay to be towed? We dont go abroad with the car so its just uk and the kids cant drive yet. (what would this cost if we went direct to rac instead of using vouchers?)Any help and advise would be great.
Thanks
Things will get better day by day.

I use my Tesco vouchers on the deals that give you 4 times the value - ie Hilton Hotel, Pizza Express etc. Think the RAC falls way short of 4 times.

If you are looking for a deal on the RAC my mate just moved from the AA using Blackcircles.com.
By going via this he saved money and they sent him £30 voucher to save money on tyres - he was well happy.

If you search the Blackcircles website for "RAC breakdown" you'll find out how to get this deal. Plan on getting round to this myself at the weekend.
It wll give you another option to compare against the vouchers.

The BEST way the RAC works is by getting PERSONAL COVER rather than the vehicle so that the PERSON is covered no matter what car they're in. As long as you applied for a joint membership for you and your husband, you would both be covered both in your car and if you're travelling in someone elses, such as a friends.

I went for the one that costs about £33.50 in clubcard vouchers. It gives roadside assistance, recovery to a destination within the UK and onward travel.

If I went direct to the RAC, it would cost over £128.

Go to their website, select the Personal Cover (this covers the person regardless what they're driving or are a passenger in) , add Recovery (tow you back to your home or an address in the UK) and Onward Travel (hire vehicle for up to 3 days or overnight accommodation whilst your car is being fixed) to the "Extras"

That'll pretty much cover you for virtually everything except breaking down at home although you can add that as well.

I have Roadside and Recovery Joint. However, that cover doesn't seem to be available any more. :(

The next best option seems to be Roadside, Recovery and Onward Travel Joint (P8101). That will cover you and your spouse in whatever car you are travelling in.

Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?
  • I have used the tesco clubcard to get RAC cover now for about 3 years.. no idea what the code is, but I've got Personal - Roadside, Recovery, At Home Onward Travel and Accident Care...
