First Utility can't supply gas meter for 28mm pipe

I switched to first utility in May (No laughing) and when onstream came to switch the smart meters they did the electric but said they can't do the gas meter as the pipe is 28mm and not 22mm. The larger pipe was installed previous to stop the pressure drop as the boiler is quite a few yards away.
As any one else had this problem or as any one got a smart meter from FU connected to a 28mm pipe.I can't find any info at FU, Onstream or else where on the web.

You (your Gas Safe engineer) may be able to connect to the 22mm meter output and this may be enough for the boiler if the rest of the pipe is in 28mm. In other words a few inches of 22mm may not make any difference.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Any fool with soldering kit and the right fitting can connect a 22mm meter outlet to 28mm pipe.
This causes me to doubt the competence of the gas fitters. Seriously, I would not let that particular gas fitter near any gas in my house whatsoever.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. 28mm for gas sounds like overkill.
22mm is the standard size these days: used to be 15mm.
22mm should be plenty for domestic use.
My new Glowworm Flexicom 30SX is 30kW,
but the gas connection is only 15mm, to be old plumbing friendly.0 -
Yes it's 28mm pipe from the meter. The reason being the gas boiler is about 8 meters away plus a few bends and a couple of gas fires. Onstream fitter said I would have to wait until they do a meter for 28mm pipe ???. I think it's an excuse but I don't know why. Contacted Onstream they say ask FU . If I ask FU I know they will say contact On stream.0

Oh then it is down to you as householder to et that changed at your expense also did the original engineer not suggest calling in the gas network to adjust pressure at mtr which what it sounds like to me but I am sure one the gas engineers here can advise better on thatI am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0
