in Credit cards
Here's a nice educational youtube video from Khan Academy in the 'Finace' section - entitled Institutional Roles in Issuing and Processing Credit Cards which lays out how Visa/Mastercard et al get the credit from your bank to the 'chalk face' of the accepting retailer. From this we see roughly who gets what cut and 'where' the money comes from in the process- the issuing 'bank' of course.
As they say, 'check it out!'
[NOTE: The 'Khan Academy' is really rather good and is largely concerned with school/college/first year uni 'math'/science/medical education of a most basic (but effective) style.]
