Epilator

Does anyone on here use an epilator? There's one in Boots at 30% off but are they any good? I had one years ago which was great (and cheaper then waxing) but it died and looking at the cost of razors/depilatory creams it might be a sound investment...

I've just started using one and am amazed at the results:Tnow I've got the hang of it I've moved on to other areas apart from my legs and its quick, easy and I'm sure its going to save me money in the long term and a lot less hassle than shaving and it doesn't ruin my fake tan:DI had a cheap one a couple of years ago that did the job but the pain and ingrown hairs just weren't worth it however this time round I won a more expensive one on the comps board and there is a world of difference:TThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Thanks. Think I might bite the bullet and get one. I have dark hair so need to shave daily but sometimes there's not enough hours in the day. Then the sun comes out and I'm stuck in trousers. Have also recently tried out fake tan (Ambre Solaire spray) so anything that helps it last is a bonus:D
Sometimes its a real pain being so vain :rotfl:26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

Which one have you got Glowgirl i'm thinking of getting one but don't want to waste money on one that isn't very good x0

I'm on my 2nd - I bought my 1st ooh I suppose a year, 18 months ago, still works I just upgraded to a posher one, one that is rechargeable and usable in the shower.
Both of mine have been braun ones, I find them very good, I use them for my legs and underarms. I will say that my pricier one is less painful though, not a lot but a bit. You do get used to it fast anyway though.
Boots online have got a fair few with 1/3 off, and orders over £40 are free delivery, may give you more choice (in my local store only 1 is on offer).0 -

Glowgirl - how did you get on with your underarms?
Managed OK with the other bits, but the armpits were unbearable. Bleeding and very sore
. Gave up in the end and used the shaver attachment which was excellent, shavers I have owned in the past have been pretty poor so I was pleasantly surprised. 0 -

I'm not glowgirl (stating the obvious there aren't I
) but I've used them under my arms - I also find it painful and it bleeds, but even the 2nd time around the pain was half.
The best part though, is I no longer have the dark sort of shadows under my arms from shaving leaving hair under the skin. Only yesterday I did it the 1st time for a while, 1st lot I'd never given in and shaved, and the pain was a lot less (still more painful than legs but bearable), but the hairs came out a lot easier, took me a fraction of the time of the 1st time.
I use the wider epilation head though with massaging rollers, not the narrow one, I find that takes too long. I wash with a mild soap, dry it with first a towel then some tissue, then pat on and off some talcum powder to make sure my underarms are as dry as can be, as sweat or water makes it harder, that's the least painful way for me.0 -
Thanks all. My biggest worry is I will buy it then it hurts too much and goes in a drawer to gather dust (although I got on okay with old one on my legs...)26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

I'd be surprised if talc helps as it has silicates in it which 'oils' surfaces (works a treat to stop baby toys squeking, trainers squeaking or pet hair tangling)26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073

I have a Braun epilator that I use all over the place! I found the underarms the most painful bit but if you stick with it the re-growth is so much finer and there is no stubble, it's great. I get a bit frustrated doing my legs with it as it seems to take ages to get all the hairs, so I do occasionally revert to a razor or Veet, but I find the epilator handy to take on holiday with me. It has certainly saved me money on waxing, razors, shaving cream etc. What goes around comes around.....I hope!0
