I have just successfully made a claim for a 32" Sumsung lcd tv with co-operative insurance.
I spoke to them today, and they said the tv is available in pc world for £299 ( i paid £400 from Littlewoods 5 months ago!)
They said they will ring me back later, but are likely to offer me Pc World or Currys vouchers to the value of £249 (£299 - £50 excess)
Do I have to accept this, as the tv is out of stock at my local pc world, and currys? Can I ask for the equivalent in cash?
I read the section someone else quoted on another thread about cash settlements, but didn't really understand it!!!
What happens if i accept them and then can't get an equivalent tv for this price?

You can request the cash, however if they are able to replace it with an equivelent item through their suppliers then they are entitled to deduct the discount they will get from the supplier.0

Tell them to give you vouchers for a place where you can actually buy the TV or replace it.0

They have an obligatin to replace your TV.
If teh vouchers giev you a problem (like it's out of stock) then they are not fulfilling their obligations.
Have you asked any other store to deliver it to you?
or see if you local store can get it transferred from another store?
but if it's impossible then they aren't fulfiling their obigation/contract, just trying tomake it easy/cheap for themselves.
If that doesn't work in your case then you need to push back.0

This is unusually inaccurate for you!
The insurers obligation is not to replace property- it never has been and probably never will be. The insurers obligation is to only provide indemnity for the financial loss that you have suffered.
The contract the OP would have signed would almost certainly give the insurers the option of settlement and I doubt there would be any form of timeframes mentioned, so a couple of weeks delay would not be unreasonable.0
