    no they are not they are an object for hanging clothes on in the corner of a bedroom..

    exercise bikes have belts, spinning bikes have brake pads (more like a normal bike)

  • Some also have chains and others are direct drive using either friction from a block or electromagnet.

    That about covers all of 'em.

    Get a real bike then the question is moot and it serves a purpose (apart from being a clothes hanger!)
