Intranet software

Morning all
Situation - I work for a small organisation - staff wanted an intranet of sorts so we knocked one up on Google sites. Problem is - no one uses it. Seems like having to log in to a Google account etc is seen as a hassle.
So - what I'd like to do is have something on our shared drive. I'm fine with HTML/CSS etc so would just knock something up that way. However, I'm leaving here in a few weeks so really could do with something that people can update easily.
Any ideas of software that might be suitable? Or any ideas?

Windows SharePoint Services (included in Windows Server) fits the bill nicely I'd say - easy to delegate permissions for individual sites and make it self service.0
