Hi All
,
I've just noticed the this icici HiSave 5.15% aer account seems to have been removed from the moneysupermarket.com saving account comparison listings? Was previously the top account listed for some time, now its gone completely. This is a bit worrying as I have savings with them, anybody know the reason behind moneysupermarket.com removing them from they're listings?? Hope they don't know something we don't.
Link Here.
Sorry about posting this, theres probably a very logical explanation but better safe than sorry.
thanks

ICICI still seem to be advertising their 5.15% HiSAVE account on their website. Also Moneysupermarket are still listing the ICICI account. It is listed at the top of the 'full listing' section when you search for an easy access savings account.
Moneysupermarket have probably removed it from their front page, because, perhaps, it was a sponsored link that ICICI have decided not to renew. Please call me 'Kazza'.0 -
Ah that calms be a bit
Though I still cant see it anywhere in the listings?? im pretty sure its been removed for some reason.
Also I always thought moneysupermarket.com listing all the popular savings accounts, be it whether they received commision or not?0 -
You need to watch most comparison tables because the initial screen you see often only shows accounts which pay top commission to the website. This is true of Moneysupermarket, The Motley Fool etc. You need to search behind it to see what the best accounts REALLY are. ICICI is still on the moneysupermarket table when you search for savings accounts. It is no longer on the first screen and it is no longer on the search list at the top. All that means (i would deduce) is that they no longer pay Moneysupermarket commission.
I personally think it is scandalous that comparison websites do this. One of the great things about MSE (and I like to think, https://www.stoozing.com, which I run and which Martin sponsors) is that it does not do this kind of thing. What you see on these sites is the proper comparison.

what a minute, its now showing the account again, it just must have been off their system for an update or something, definately wasnt there when I searched various times earlier! Panic over.
so your saying many comparison sites are structured in a way to make you think you are getting the best deal, when in fact they are probably only showing (or highlighting) the deals from which they make most commision? Very sneaky and somewhat unfair me thinks.0 -
As an example, take a look at the main savings page at Moneysupermakert
http://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/
You would think that CapitalOne had the top "Easy Access" account, followed by First Direct. In reality the First Direct account is pretty poor because it pays no interest in any month when you make a withdrawal and the rate is not top notch. To be fair, MSM only claims these are the "best selling" accounts but that does not mean they are the BEST accounts. Subtle.
OK, so let's look further. To see the full range of accounts you need to do the Comparison at the top of the page which lists these results
http://www.moneysupermarket.com/savings/SavingsResults.asp
(sorry that link does not work. you can get to the results page by clicking on the Compare Savings Accounts bit on the other URL above)
The first account is ING Direct which is showing a very poor 4.5% (actually they have announced they are increasing it to 4.75 but that is by the by). However, this is a "sponsored link". Next on the list First Direct and Cahoot but these are "best sellers".
Only after those do you get the real market leading ones where you can find ICICI at 5.15 etc. Actually the table does not currently show YBS and Bradford and Bingley who have announced rate increases to 5.1.
Actually I think that MSM is a good site but you have to know what you are looking at to get the best out of it.

If you want to check yourself, i find MOneyFacts website to be ine of the best for savings. They miss some accounts (e.g. ICICI) for various reasons, but in general will cover them.
This however, will always be in their rawest form; the bets place to check is out Savings articleFormer MSE team member0
