Hotmail messages / MSN and Windows XP

I have a laptop running XP which logs up to a 'Welcome screen' where you can select the user account you want to load.
Anyway, my neice came to visit yesterday and I let her use my laptop on my user account to go on MSN.
Now every time I reboot the laptop or it times out to the welcome screen, there is a message under my user account name saying 3 unread messages and when I hover over the message it gives my neice's hotmail address.
Not real a problem but just annoying. Any idea how I can get rid of this message.
Thanks

I would think the only way is for your niece to go into her hotmail account and "read" the emails - she can do that from anywhere. Then you should not get that message again.
Hopefully some whiz will come along with a better way of doing it
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
She's just gone and linked your XP account with HER msn account  Women, I tell ya :rotfl:
I've never had to do this before, but try clicking Start > click the pic at the top > click home on the left side of the popup box > see if there's an option there
Apologies but I'm using an HP Compaq nx9105 off a mate and I dare not try anything daring on it
sorry!

OK I think I've cracked it

Go to Start
> click on picture/logo at top left
> Click Home on the top bar of popup window
> from the "Pick a Task" choose "Change an Account"
> Click the appropriate identity
> Try clicking the option that mentions the .net passport and hopefully have a fiddle and it should have a relevant option somewhere there
Hope this helps, hope it works!!

You can zero the unread mail count using Tweak UI, available from the Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP page. It’s interesting to have a look at in its own right, as it allows you to change a number of settings. Under the Repair section, you can select the option to Repair unread mail count, then click on Repair Now.古池や蛙飛込む水の音0

Thanks Crabby - I've tried fiddling with that to no avail. Looks like I may have to follow PierceUK's suggestion and wait a few more days! It's easier to get forgiveness than to ask permission
