Confused over electricity, 2 supplies but 1 meter?
We are currently with Eon and we have Economy 7. We tried to switch over to EDF a while ago but it got cancelled and we were told that we have 2 supplies but only 1 meter and EDF couldn't support that.
So I really want to switch to try and save money but have no idea what this means and who will support it. Can anyone shed any light?

This is probably a database problem. I do not know what the fix is - it makes no sense to me to have 1 meter and 2 supplies. Presumably you only have 1 incoming cable.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Why not ask EDF what they mean?I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Are you sure you have an Economy 7 meter and not something like Economy 10 (or one of its variants such as heatwise) as these tend to have 2 supplies. How many sets of readings are on your meter/bills?0

Hi razzie50,
Do you have access to your meter location?
As stewie_griffin says, if you have more than one supply line you could have E10 or Heatwise, especially Heatwise as you are an E.ON customer.
Heatwise will have another unit located next to the main meter, so this would be identifiable.
Do you have an all electric property or is there a gas supply?
It may be that either E.ON or the national database have the meter details for your property set up wrong. I'd be inclined to guess the database is set up wrong and EDF are extracting the required information from that source for there quotes.
If the quote isn't possible the source of the information is likely to be the issue.

If razzie50 has just one meter and two supplies (or two MPANS) it may well be a Total Heating Total Control (THTC) system, found mainly in Scotland. It is also possile that a heatwise system has in the past been removed and one of the MPANS was not de-energised and removed from the system.
That said, the only meters in THTC systems with two MPANS are two-element pre pay meters, if the meter is an old token one (often left in and zeroed out if used as a credit meter) it looks for all intents as an eco7 meter.
If it's an older token meter it will have 'two element' written above the screen, the reads will show as Rate A and Rate B (not 1 & 2). If its a key meter it will have 2E written somwhere round by the ser no/part no, and it will have 4 or 5 rates. Both types will be wired into a radio teleswitch and there will be cables up the ying yang.
Need more info to be sure.0
