Bank's error has put me £150 minus help!!

My gripe is with the bank of scotland i cant go into a lot of detail but any advice from anyone on this is greatly appreciated, i went into my local branch of bank of scotland to make a withdrawal as i had lost my card, i asked the cashier for the amount i knew was availible and was advised by her that my tax credits were pending to be paid and i could have that amount on to my original withdrawal request which i was happy with, then to my shock on sunday evening i checked my online account to see i was -150.00 the amount the cashier had added to my original withdrawal, the bank say that there is nothing they can do about this i am a single part time working mum and have been left in financial hardship because of this i had a payment of 100 pounds to go into my bank tues but because of this it went straight to the minus, i had a meeting at the bank and asked if i could come to some arrangement with them as i was depending on that money for things they said no sorry so no money another 60 pounds to be taken straight off any money i get this week due to their error what do i do?

That whole paragraph is all one sentence, and with no punctuation. It makes it very difficult to read and understand what you are saying, so please forgive me if my answer doesn't fit with what actually happened.

    Is this what you mean:
My gripe is with the Bank of Scotland. I can't go into a lot of detail, but any advice from anyone on this is greatly appreciated.

I went into my local branch of Bank of Scotland to make a withdrawal, as I had lost my card. I asked the cashier for the amount i knew was available, and was advised by her that my tax credits were in the account(1), so I was able to withdraw £150 more than I thought was available(2).

Then on Sunday evening i checked my online account to see i was £150.00 overdrawn(3), the amount that my tax credits were for. The bank say that there is nothing they can do about this. I am a single part time working mum and have been left in financial hardship. I had a payment of £100 to go into my bank on Tuesday, but because of this the account remained overdrawn.

I had a meeting at the bank and asked if i could come to some arrangement with them as I was depending on that money for things. They were not able to do this.

Another £60 is going to be taken straight off any money i get this week due to their error.(4) What do i do?

    (1) Your original post said that they were 'pending'. Payments into your account would not usually show up as 'pending' before they arrive, they just come, and are available to withdraw straight away. It is unclear as to what you mean here.

    (2) So have you yet received the tax credits? Do they show up on your internet banking statement? If so, what date is by them, and what date did you make the withdrawal in branch?

    (3) Within an arranged overdraft? Or did you go over your limit?

    (4) Who is taking this £60? What is it for?

    ----

As far as I understand it, when you withdrew the cash, you withdrew £150 more than you had expected to be able to get. Since the overdraft now appears to have been reduced to £50 (since the £100 went in yesterday), can't you pay some of the £150 back into the account to bring it back into credit?

I think pending payments are just that, and they have not cleared so are unavailable for withdrawals. Unless of course, you already have sufficient funds in place to cover them.

Sorry I don't think there is much you can do, it seems you withdrew the pending funds even though you didn't have the money to cover it.

A harsh lesson learned there me thinks

The cashiers system wont show if you have a pending bank credit. The only pending payment the system will ever show is if you have a cheque waiting to clear.

The only thing that would show as pending would be debit card transactions still to come off your account. I am very surprised that the system would allow the cashier to physically overdraw your account at counter, they would have haved to override the system to do that.

I am curious what your answers are to rb10's questions as this would help me understand the situation better
