Difficulty chnaging suppliers and leaving readings

Hi all

Just wondered if you could maybe help me wit this but in the past few years I have changed electricity suppliers twice and had difficulties with leaving readings each time. First I was with Swalec and switched over to NPower. I did what I was meant to do and gave them leaving readings on the day of the switch. However sorting out my first bill based in my leaving readings confused them so much it took them 6 months to do. In March of this year I then left NPower and went over to EDF. Same thing happened, took leaving readings on the day I switched, rang up, and gave them to the agent and then confusion kicks in...I got a bill for £110 for a period of 2 weeks so I asked what's going on and yes you guessed it they said there was confusion over the leaving readings. Not sure what hey meant by this and how they could come to the decision of billing me for a fortnight and for a massive amount. I wouldn’t spend much more than £110 a quarter in the summer months as I live in a studio flat with no major appliances. I gave them the readings again and they asked me which figure related to night and which to day...I told them the higher was for day and lower for night as I have always been billed in this way but I did notice on their bill they had the figures the other way around, yet this doesn’t explain the massive fortnightly billing.

Hmm. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks all.

When you change electricity supplier you have to give your change of supplier meter reading to your NEW supplier. He validates the reading and passes it to your old supplier, it does not work the other way round.

What made you think I gave meter readings to the old supplier? lol I'd have to be a bit thick to do that.
