How robust are the messaging systems in eBay?

I sold a shirt to a guy a month back, and the other day received a message claiming he'd sent me loads of messages asking where his shirt was, and why I'm not responding, and that he's going to leave bad feedback. That message was the first I'd heard of the problem, and looking at his feedback, he sells a lot of stuff too, so I'd guess he knows how to send messages properly.
Do ebay sometimes lose messages, or do you think he's just pulling a fast one to get a refund by saying it's "lost in the post"?

You can check the 'my messages' within 'my ebay' and all messages should be there. They don't always get forwarded to email or received by email but they are usually in there if you haven't been in and deleted them.
If they were sending direct to your email address they'd be harder to track, but if gone through Ebay they would be in the sender's sent box and the receiver's inbox..0 -
I noticed that sometimes they don't deliver the messages.
With one of my accounts they never get forwarded to my email, I have to log in and check "My Messages" which is quite annoying. Some time ago I was able to get them forwarded to my email but couldn't reply from there... and I wasn't including email addresses or links in the messages. Now I just don't get them!
I also worry when I read "after sale comms to be made through ebay message system" a good excuse not to reply to complaints I guess...*_*_* Department of Redundancy Department *_*_*0 -
I also had a problem with messages not being forwarded, but they were in my inbox. Your buyer is at fault somehow. But how to tell him?0

I've had someone try and get in touch with me and the messages didn't come through full stop. Not to my email or eBay account. Highly frustrating.0

It's a known fault, but not one that they are willing to publically admit, as obviously it's hard to prove that something doesn't exist. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.0

Hi, yes, this was the first place I checked as soon as I got the e-mail. Judging from other responses, this guy might not be fibbing after all. It is convenient he can't be bothered to cancel the transaction his end, however!

I had a Greek trying to contact me, but the first I heard from him was his negative feedback:: No unapproved links in signatures please - MSE Forum Team ::0
