Prospective buyer bringing builder round
Comments
-
As an FTB I pulled out of a sale after the vendor refused to allow visits from a builder. The property I was intending to buy had a very badly converted loft without the correct planning regs and the surveyor indicated it needed looking at further. I needed to get a variety of quotes for the work and so asked 3 builders all to quote independantly. At this point I had every intention of proceeding with the sale but just needed to know what I was letting myself in for in terms of the work needed. I also wanted to be able to book the work to begin from the second after completion so I could move in ASAP
The vendor told the EA she thought I was going to try and bargain down the price... I just walked away from the sale! I lost about £500 in fee's but I wasn't happy with the vendors attitude when it was a vacant flat anyhow. I'm not saying I was right, but as an FTB about to commit to £120000 worth of debt, £500 was small fry.0
