Free Listing on Sunday June 6th....

http://pages.ebay.co.uk/promos/0IF_100606/index.html

Private sellers only again, but in the small print...
If you list items in the promotion period with a starting price of between £0.01 and £0.99 they will still count towards your limited 100 new listings/month.

If you go over the 100 new listings with a starting price of between £0.01 and £0.99 on the promotion period you will be charged the promotion insertion fee of £0.00, however, after the promotion period if you list items with a starting price of between £0.01 and £0.99 you will be charged the standard insertion fee of £0.10, £0.05 for media.

So it's not as free as it first seems - it simply encourages people to move their allocation of free listings to the start of the month, possibly to increase the number of insertion fees paid by sellers towards the end of the month...

Clever.

    Free insertion fees

Your first 100 single-quantity auction-style listings in a calendar month won’t be charged an insertion fee if:
    • You are a private seller
    • The item is listed in an eligible category
    • Your starting price is between £0.01 and £0.99
If your listing is eligible for a £0.00 insertion fee, your insertion fee will appear as "Free" in the listing form. If you're relisting an item, the relist is eligible for £0.00 insertion fees under the same guidelines as a new listing. All listings (including relisted and cancelled listings) count toward the 100 listings limit.
Only auction-style listings are eligible. All other fees, including listing upgrade fees (such as bold or listing in two categories) and final value fees, still apply. If you list items in a second category, this will be charged the standard fees for listing in a second category.
eBay Motors, Classfied Ads, Property and Multiple-Item Buy It Now listings have their own Insertion Fees.

Gotta say, this is probably the best thing I've ever been given for a birthday present. A culling of worthless tat on ebay, and possibly the beginning of the end for private business sellers.

I did wonder if they would do a free listing day to encourage private sellers to keep listing. The restriction highlighted by Steve suggests that buyers must be careful to use the free listings for items over 99p otherwise all they are doing is using their private listing allocation. Clever.

    Watch this exclusion as well:

Items which are listed with a Reserve Price are excluded from this promotion.

Before they announced this free listing day I had great hopes for some normality in 10 days time, that being 10 days after the new capped limits coming into force.

My listing plans for the weekend have been scuppered. :(

The problem is they tend to condense sales for business sellers. I don't think my sales suffer over all, but are put on hold. Having said that, things went mad over the bank holiday so I could do with a break.

I gave up listing over these weekends a few months ago. My BIN sales are fine but the Auction listings if they sell get a lot lower prices. So its just not worth it
