I wouldnt beat yourself up- we've all been talked into buying something before. Its often really hard to say no!
A tactic I use is if talk of price etc ensues and we appear to be going towards a sale I normally say something like "great, sounds like a good deal, this is the first place Ive looked so Ive got a few more to see but thanks for your time".
They probably know that means Im not coming back but its an easy way to walk away from something!0 -

And bb69, I've just purchased a Honda Jazz, two years newer than the other one and with all the add-ons that the other one didn't have, like air con, CD player etc, for the same price
A much better buy, and thoroughly reseearched first
