Additional cardholders - able to affect credit rating?

Hi,
Hopefully a fairly straightforward question. I would like to apply for a credit card and as part of the application get a second card for a member of my household (a family member). The family member has a poor credit rating, could this affect the application and are there any risks to my own credit score as a result of getting a second card for them? for clarity this would be an application based entirely iff my own finances and just requesting a second card. There are no concerns about the second cardholder incurring debts I couldn't afford.

I think that the concensus is that there will be no affect on your application. If you are nervous you can normally wait a bit and request an additional cardholder to be added after you have got your mitts on your own card.Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??
