Damp please help!

Hi,
I hope someone can help me.... I have a issue with damp/mould in a few different place in the house and unsure as the cause and action needed to be taken to clear it up.
The kitchen is the biggest problem, but it seems this is because we have no extracter fan and until recently didn't open the window when cooking. Although the mould and damp has not gotten any worse it is still there and I don't know how to go about cleaning it off/drying out the walls and ceiling.
The front bedroom also has mould in the corner where 2 outside walls meet, this has only been an issue for the last few months after we hung a fabric toy tidy against the wall and put a larger radiator in as the room were very very cold.... are these things coinsidances or could they be the cause?
There are a number of other places that have mould growing such as the wall where the coats hang and the wall where the armchair sits against... could this be due to lack of air circulation or could it be a damp proof issue?
Any advice/help would be greatfully recieved!
Thankyou

All sound like air circulation problems - the common factor being something placed against the wall which allows a little area of cold air to build up behind the object - the warmer air in the room because of the new radiator will enable the air to hold more moisture. When that moist air cools behind the object, it will condense, leaving damp on the wall which will then breed mould. Ironically the solution is to ensure proper ventilation so that the moist air that you create by breathing, showering, drying clothes etc goes outside and drier air from outside comes in.
To clean it off, find a hot dry day (so the end of this week should be good), open all the windows and clean down the walls with bleach (and if you can get it the Polycell mould cleaner spray). Leave it to dry and then ensure ventilation in future. Unfortunately mould does stain permanently so you may need to touch up the paint - but solve the problems first as mould can live quite happily on normal paint.Adventure before Dementia!0 -

Hi,
you may also find fungicidal washes and anti-mould paints useful. See link to appropriate page of Biokill Crowns website
