Kids' Replica Football Shirts; what a rip off!

I was looking at the online store of a popular football team today, looking at replica kits. Both looking for one for me, and one for my daughter. Now, the ones for me were expensive enough (at £35.99). But then I clocked the price for the smallest kids' one, for 6 year olds (she's 5; she can grow in to it), and that was £29.99!
Now, when you take in to account the fact that VAT on adults' clothes is 17.5%, and VAT on kids' clothes is zero rated, that actually works out that they're effectively charging a whole 64p less for a shirt for a small child as a grown adult.
Having mentioned this on the club's forum, it seems it's apparently a very widespread complaint reaching beyond the club in question (hence me not mentioning their name), and was even mentioned on Watchdog last week in relation to England shirts; there an even more staggering £39.99 vs £49.99.
It just seems to me that the pricing structure is just wrong; there's no way a 6 year old's short should be so close in price to an adult's. Trouble is, there's enough people who will pay the overinflated prices for the kids' gear for the clubs to just stick their fingers in their ears and go "ner, ner, ner; can't hear you..."

why dont you have a look at the kids replica shirts for the world cup on Aldi stores? priced at a reasonable £4.99.
I wouldnt pay £35 for kids shirt and now have a very good idea where these clubs are making the money to pay all those overpriced players.0 -
