itunes account compromised

A warning, at the weekend I received a receipt from the itunes store for a purchase I did not make. It was a genuine mail and contained my full name and address.
I informed apple and they said "Regrettably, I won't be able to refund this purchase for you. The iTunes Store Terms of Service states that Apple is not responsible for losses arising out of the unauthorized use of your account."
Like many people itunes had my credit card details on line so I guess all someone had to do was guess my password.
Given Apple's complete indifference I've deactivated my account - I can live without the itunes store - but in future I don't think I'll be leaving my CC details on file. Maybe time to strengthen all those passwords too.

The same thing happened to me this weekend. I checked my email on Monday morning and saw that 7 apps had been purchased. I don't have any app capable products so there's no reason to purchase.
Fortunately, the money came out of credit I had on iTunes from a voucher I received. Unfortunately, I would lose all of my remaining credit should I close my iTunes account.
I too got the unable to offer a refund response. Can't say I'm happy with the service I received. They can check my purchase history to see that it wasn't me.
Does anyone know of any way to get Apple to refund?0 -

Try saying you'll get the Police involved, as a crime has been committed (which it has; theft/fraud).Regards,

I once asked iTunes if they could transfer permission to redownload purchased music from one account to another as my original account couldn't login to an earlier version of iTunes that I was using with Linux. After ping ponging emails a few times they eventually said it wasn't possible to do what I was asking but would give me a full refund for all the music I'd purchased so I could purchase it again with my new account!
Obviously iTunes could have said it was tough luck for me but eventually gave me a refund. Maybe if you email them a couple more times they may change their mind? Not sure what you could say in this instance but obviously be polite and don't use ill thought out legal threats, etc.0 -
If someone buys songs/videos on your account I know you can de-authorise other computers to play music from your account. Just make sure you change your password, and possibly change it to another email address.0

My husband had £90 taken out of his account, supposedly bought gangsterz rock game x 2 for £59.99 and £29.99. No credit card linked to this account, as he loads with gift cards. The only way it can have been hacked is from something to do with Apple. Loads of incidences of it when you google.
Sounds like the game is created and sold on apple by 3rd party who somehow access your account. Who would pay £59.99 for a game. Wouldn't mind he only has a old ipod classic, couldn't play the game if he wanted to.Money SPENDING Expert0 -
Don't like the way apple hold your card details, I deleted my card details from my account and yet somehow I am still able to purchase apps etc and get the invoice in my emails...£2 Savers Club 2011 (putting towards a deposit
) - £588

Ive just had 2 emails (both arrived today) about purchases made yesterday and day before, totals around £20 but neither made by me. A couple were for apps and the rest songs. I only have an old nano so cant do apps, have emailed them but looking at this thread there doesnt seem to be a chance of getting my money back :-( fortunatly this had come from a giftcard and account doesnt have any credit card attached to it but its really annoying. Is there anything else I should be considering doing now?0
