Firefox extension to block Cookies by URL instead of host

Hi,

Can anyone name a Firefox extension please that can control cookies using a wildcard match on the whole URL rather than just a host name?

What I'm trying to do is to selectively allow my cookie to be transmitted when on certain pages of a site but not on others.

The particular example I had in mind was Google, where I want to send a cookie when using Google Reader (to avoid having to type my password) but block when doing a search.

So, for example, I want to allow cookies on access to:

http://www.google.com/reader/*

But block on:

http://www.google.com/*q=*

I do this at the moment using the fairly clumsy method of using google.co.uk for search and google.com for reader, such that there are two different host names and therefore I can block on one and allow on the other.

Any better ideas?

Thanks

Bonzer

I use Firefox and i've set it so that it clears all cookies when I shut my browser.

You could do the same but create exceptions for the site cookies you want to keep. Obviously while you are browsing all cookies will be kept on your computer but most of them are used for advertising purposes. If you're bothered about targeted advertising get the Adblock add-on.

    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1865/

Incidentally, Flash cookies never expire and can be difficult to remove from your computer. Here's another add-on to stop the beggars.

If you're not sure how to change your Firefox settings for cookies then:

Click Tools-Options-Privacy, then put a tick against 'Accept cookies from sites' , choose keep until 'I close Firefox' from the drop down menu. Finally click on 'Exceptions' for the cookies you want to keep.

You could also click on Security after Options and set Firefox to remember passwords.

A few ideas to be going on with anyway until somebody a bit brainier comes along.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Unfortunately I don't think either of those extensions or the Firefox standard features can solve the problem.

What I would like to be able to do is selectively transmit my cookie based on a URL (with wildcards), rather than a host name. Most cookie extensions seem to only allow you to entirely block or entirely allow a particular web site. What I would like to do is say that certain web pages within a site are allowed and certain web pages within that site are denied. So in the above example, Google Reader and Google Search are both under the same domain name. You have to either entirely allow or entirely deny google.com. You can't say that cookies are allowed on Google Reader but not on Google search as they come from the same site.

I've not been able to find anything so far that can do this.
