If that is your normal commute to work - then no.

You can't claim the costs of getting to and from work, only if you need to use your vehicle in the course of doing your job. If your job starts when you get to point A, you stay there all day and then return to home - then your car is not being used for business use, but rather commuting. Just as people can't claim their public transport costs incurred by commuting to work, you can't claim your vehicle costs for commuting either.

HMRC are quite clear on this and apply the rules fairly. In order for you to claim tax relief on ANY expense if you are an employee (not self employed) they must pass the following three tests.
The expenses paid must be WHOLLY for work purposes - AND
The expenses paid must be EXCLUSIVELY for work purposes - AND
The expenses paid must be NECCESSARY for work purposes.

I doubt that you would pass the third test as it is not neccessary for you to incur fuel costs to get to work. There is public transport and it has been known that the HMRC would suggest that you either ask for a lift or indeed use a pedal cycle!!!

If you were genuinely self employed the rules are eased.

You may find that looking for a job closer to home is more practical

Has the company relocated or did you apply for the job knowing you'd have this commute every day?
