Can I suggest one of the charity 10k runs? They are busy, but really exciting. I've run the Manchester 10k (where I met Sir Alex Ferguson) and all the Emmerdale cast were running it seriously and not being bothered by other runners.
Sure you'd raise loads of money for charity too0 -
Agree with the previous post, however there are 2 things to consider for outdoor 10k runs:
1) Positive - people really encourage you and pull you along with them. Whether it's the watching crowd or other runners
2) Negative - they are soooooo busy that people get in your way. Running diagonally to avoid them can really add to your time!
Well done though!0 -

I have run a couple and find them really emotional - loads of people with photos on their t-shirts of relatives that they are running for. You've really got to prepare yourself mentally for it as it can blow you away

Well done Martin, that's the same time as my cycle commute of 6 miles in London takes! Fancy a race sometime?0 -
Now, get out and see what it's like on an outdoor run !
If you've got an iphone or droid you can get a free app to track your pace and distance, and listen to music at the same time.
Then, when you've got your confidence, enter a 10K, then see what your "real" 10k time is
Still a good achievement anyway. Way faster than I can run tread mill or outdoors (50:59 10K for me)0 -
I think that's brilliant Martin. I ran the Great Yorkshire 10k last year in 49 mins and collapsed afterwards. Training for the Cardiff half in Oct this year. Anyway...Well done!!~If it's cheap cosmetics, fashion or shoes, I want it. Especially shoes. Did I mention I like shoes?~0

Congrats martin,
next target sub 40!
If anyone wants a realistic treadmill to road run comparison, the treadmill must be on a 2% incline.

One thing I would say is, please avoid treadmills if you're starting to do high mileage. My physio gave me a telling off for using one when I was away on business. The problem with them is, the lack of small dips and humps means you work your joints too uniformly for too long. This greatly increases the risk of developing overuse injuries.
And you simply can't beat running outside in the fresh air, as far as I'm concerned.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0
