It looks like you are trying to do the whole column in one go. Try putting this in cell A1 on your master and then copying to the other cells taking out the $ ( I can't do it as it assumes I mean :A)...

Master cell A1 - ='[Report1.xls]SB'!$A1:$A1+'[Report2.xls]KW'!$A1:$A1+'[Report3.xls]SW'!$A1:$A1+'[Report4.xls]CB'!$A1:$A1

Thanks, that works if i link it to 1 document but not to multiple documents!

Not sure i have thought this through as each of the 4 Excel documents are identical apart from the data within each cell, so if i am trying to add 4 cells into one master - how does it deal with it?

If someone can help me with the files i'll pay £10 via paypal - as i am desperate to get this working by tomorrow.

You might find mrexcel.com and jargonfreehelp.com useful too. There is lynda.com but you have to pay.

There are other podcasts in iTunes too.

I've stopped using manuals and just watch podcasts to learn as I can see what they are doing.
