Work from home typist/data entry . . legit?!

Has anyone come across Morrecruitment?

They advertised for a work from home typist/data entry.

I sent an email off requesting more info...

Here’s the response, it's a bit lengthy, apologies. Immediately I felt alarm bells ringing re £20 up front for the training package, however, I have heard of other people stumping up a training fee and finding all was above board. Don't know what to think?

Comments on experience with this sort of thing or with Morrecruitment greatly appreciated.

Dear Sir/Madam ,

Thank you for taking an interest in the position of Data Entry Clerk – Home Based. This opportunity requires that you have a reliable computer with constant Internet access and capabilities, a valid E-mail account, basic Internet knowledge and basic typing skills.

You must be able to conduct yourself in a professional manner. This includes having excellent grammar and spelling when communicating with clients via E-mail. You must also be able to follow instructions closely and completely!

As the advertisement explained, you yourself decide the numbers of hours you wish to work. You therefore may choose or vary your hours between days, nights or weekends.

This opportunity requires you to do all contact via E-mail, so you will not be required to call anyone. You will be processing applications, as well as filling out forms in specific company databases (this can be tedious at times, so please be sure that you have the patience to do so before proceeding). You will need a word processing program in order to perform this position successfully (MS Word, Works, Notepad, etc)

This is why we suggest you should have basic Internet knowledge, though the training provided will give step-by- step instructions on how to perform these tasks correctly. Most applicants typically complete the training within 24 hrs or less. However, you can do this at your leisure. Keep in mind that the sooner you go through the training materials, the sooner you will begin earning money

With this position you will have a constant flow of work to complete and as mentioned before the number of hours you put in, is entirely up to you and this also applies to how much money you will make each week.

You will be paid £20.00 for each application completed.
For example: If you process 20 orders a week, you will make £400.00
The average person can make £250.00- £500.00 each week.

When you have been accepted as a Data Entry Processor/ Home Typist, you are considered an Independent Contractor. This means that your taxes will not be taken out; therefore you are ENTIRELY RESPONSIBLE FOR SORTING YOUR OWN TAXES. (No tax forms will be issued) The training manual will provide more information on this element.

Your pay will be received by you through PAYPAL or whichever online payment portal you choose. When an application is completed £20.00 will be credited to your PayPal account, which can be withdrawn into your bank account at your leisure.

You can read about the security policies at www.paypal.com

There is a ONE -TIME NON REFUNDABLE FEE for the training package of £20.00 (The training package gives you step- by step instructions on how to get started.)

We must accept this fee to cover training costs, processing fees, as well as to ensure that only serious applicants apply. This is a NON-REFUNDABLE FEE, so be sure that you understand what you are doing before sending in your payment for the training materials.
This fee will not be waived for anyone, and cannot be deducted from your first pay. This is because if you do not process applications, you will not have a first pay, and we will have already taken the time to set you up and train you.

We will be able to be contacted via E-mail at any time after you have received your training materials to help answer any questions you may have.

You've got to ask yourself why an employer willing to pay £250 - £500 per week would ask for a seemingly trivial £20 training fee.

If they're genuine, they'd select suitable people for the position and fund the training themselves. I may be wrong, but I suspect a scam. I wouldn't touch it with a proverbial bargepole.

This has to be said, sounds like a con. I was interested in working from home (similar roles) and the vast majority of them are scams. Anything which mentions a training pack and no obvious contacts etc is usually a scam?

The only typing roles I know of which are legit have been friends of mine who worked for a solicitors firm, then asked to work from home but was supplied with her own audio transcribing equipment and posted/couriered audio tapes to transcribe and another lady working for a similar firms.

The rest, I'd not touch with a bargepole.

Right - done some research myself - there are 2 companies morerecruitment.co.uk (registered domain name) and more-recruitment.com.

The latter agency has a mobile phone number so maybe alarm bells would ring there but they seem legit.

Where did you see the advert placed in the first place? Could you ring where the advert was placed?

I'd ring the contact details. I can't personally see anything wrong about the .com website but you never know a scam.

I'd be slightly wary about being paid by paypal etc - contract etc - I'd just ring and ask if there could be some sort of interview before you part with £20.

And it's taken me 5 minutes to research this info - no *scam* websites immediately jump out from google but it's a good practice for you to look yourself in future. :D

Oh - me bad - inputted name wrong. Morrecruitment seem to have offices everywhere - I'd ring them up and ask in each instance but I still smell whiff of scam.... even more so now, in this case - googled them and no immediate website links so I'd be very wary at that point, if they were any sort of legal company they'd have a website.

Hi, thanks for your research. I did research on google etc.. as far as I could... in my OP I was asking for actual experience for anyone who had been hired by them / completed any work for them...

Feels a bit scammy... but you never know...... not sure what to do!

It all depends whether you can afford to gamble £20, but as others have posted, anything wanting an upfront fee usually spells scam.

Erm - ok - point taken - but in your OP you didn't actually say if you'd googled/researched them. Some people here are quite lazy on that score and don't do their research. But I wasn't to know that you had researched etc. ;)

A lot of the homeworking companies and dodgy ad (see above) I *did* google led onto *scam sites* or sites where they say *beware of this homeworking company scam* and I must say, it took me a whole evening doing this, I had to input 1 chap's details and company address into Google etc.

Like many have said here before, if anyone asks for money upfront (and seems to have countless other *addresses* which morrecruitment do have) then I'd say it seems too good to be true.

I did have one friend who used to work out of hours for Loot (typing up ads at their N London office) and they eventually offered her the chance to work from home and do this, but she didn't do this in the end.

If you're a trained legal secretary there are a few evening secretarial jobs - they *may* give you the option to work from home if you ask (see another friend's experience).

Anyway good luck in whatever you do.

I think I'd be starting by asking a few questions about what type of recruitment agency they are.

I struggle to believe that ANY agency in the current climate would need to advertise to fill their own positions. Surely they all have candidates desperate for work of any size, shape or form (the work that is, not the candidates!) stumbling through the door day in and day out?

Hey, don't get defensive! I said thanks for your research! I agree with you, so many people on here don't bother wtih research first - I didn't get anywhere thus asking for experience with this company on here.

I agree with you writing the company's name and scam after it (which I did do first also) in google is the way to go - I didn't get anywhere with this so thought I would pop the answer on here.

I think bargepole and don't touch comes to mind... cheers!
