International money transferring

Hello,
I am a Brit currently living in Oz on a year working visa, and Im unsure what is the best way to send money back home. I tried sending some cash back through an international bank transfer from my Oz bank to my Lloyds and the rate was shockingly low. Would Western Union be my best option or is there any other options I am unaware of? Any help would be much appreciated

Would Paypal work for you? If it's a personal transaction I don't believe there are any fees to pay, otherwise it's 3.4% + 20p.0

actually paypal will scalp 2.5% over the interbank exchange rate as well.
your best option really depends on whether you're remitting hundreds or thousands0 -
Keilo - take a look at http://www.tranzfers.com/
They are an fx dealer, and are regulated in Australia. Moreover, they specialise in exactly what you are looking to accomplish. Their rates are better than retail and the cost of a transaction is reasonable (eg. AUD 15, I think, to make a t/fer from Oz to the UK).
I'm a kiwi in the UK and have been a Tranzfers customer for around 3 or 4 years now and never had any problems with undertaking GBP, EUR or NZD transfers.0 -

I have used the UK and NZ office without any problems. Rates are reasonable as long as you are transferring less than £1000. Any more I would shop around for FX houses in Australia and get quotes.0 -
Thanks for the replies! I am planning on transferring a couple of grand here and there. I will try Tranzfers.com and let you know how I get on!0
