I'm after an easy FTP client (not that I truly understand everything about FTP).
I had one a while back that let me browse for a file, it then gave me a url which I gave to someone and they started downloading immediately.
anyone know anything like this?

I use WS_FTP (for Home)

It looks and feels like Windows. Dead easy to use.0 -
Google an app called FileZilla.
It's light, fast and stable. Use it all the time. It also comes in a portable version if you have a usb key."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Filezilla gets my vote too, found it by far the easiest for people to use.Ever stop to think and forget to start again?0

cheers, I've used that before, doesn't the person grabbing the file have to have it installed aswell?
I can't remember the name of the program I had, but it was as simple as uploading a file into this program and giving the other person the url it generated - then you just watch the file get downloaded by the other user.0 -
Filezilla is great - and it's open source.
If you want to provide a URL so someone can download a file you supply, it might be worth having a look at https://www.dropload.com or similar web services...0 -
If you use firefox you can also get an extention called FireFTP which works a treat. FTP inside your browser.0

Or if you use Internet Explorer 6 you can just type something like ftp://ftp.myftpserver.com, enter the ID and password and copy and paste files almost as though the FTP server was a folder on your computer.
However what I think Skiduck wants is something like http://www.yousendit.com/ or similar as mentioned by esuhl0
