Are you using a wired or a wirelesss connection?
When you lose connection, what does the internet light on your router do?
That gum you like is coming back in style.

if you look at the back of the router it should be numbered (usually) 1-4,

I have found in last 3 routers some ports work better than others and some not at all try different ports for a day at a time see if issue disappears.
  • Also, get the manufacturer/model of the network card and get the proper drivers from their website. MS ones are usually pretty good but it's always worth getting the actual drivers from who made the card.

and try a different patch lead. kinked patch leads cause all sorts of flakey/dodgy network issues.

Are you using a firewall? Is this a wireless connection or hard wired?

In Windows 7 if you right click on the network icon, in the right side of task bar, you can troubleshoot problems - try this the next time it loses connection.
