Hi all,

I have bought a waterproof camcorder 10 months ago. During my last trip, the water came into my camcorder. I think it was because of the problem with camcorder and returned it to retail. But retailer said it was caused by user error and did not provide me the report from manufacturer.

What could I do next?

It is Sanyo VPC-WH1 HD Waterproof Flash Memory Camcorder w/ 30x

Thanks in advance

What was the "user error" waterproof means waterproof unless you damaged the casing or it stipulated a max depth and you exceeded this. PS is "-er" missing from your keyboard (retailer, camcorder ) just makes it easier to read.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

Thanks, I did not damage the casing and just used during snorkeling. The retailer kept saying it must be a user error because it is waterproof. It seems I could not get any reasonable response from them. Is there any third party I could report this issue to?

Were you only snorkelling on the surface? did you go to any depth, what depth? Was there and dirt in the battery compartment?

You have options but it relies on you being 100% truthful and having no doubt in your mind that you didnt at least contribute to it. otherwise you risk losing more money.

As a side, have you bothered contacting the manufacturer directly about a warranty claim?

It was only under the surface around 1 meter. No dirt in the battery compartment, but I can see sands inside through lens. I think they were coming in with sea water. It is not the first time I used this camcorder.

I think there is a difference between water proof in rain or wet conditions and snorkeling. But before we are rash
With SANYO’s advanced waterproofing technology, this camera can be used without thinking twice in the rain; for marine sports such as surfing or snorkeling; or for winter sports such as skiing or snowboarding*. The VPC-WH1 keeps up with active lifestyles, expanding the scope of shooting opportunities. It features a 30x optical zoom for superior video-capturing. The waterproof SANYO Xacti VPC-WH1 Dual Camera is usable year-round and is perfect for activities on the go, regardless of whether users are in the city, by the sea, or in the mountains.

Yes, waterproof is the main reason why I bought it.

Well the full warning says its waterproof up to 3.0 meters under normal pressure and sea/fresh water doesnt make a difference(providing you rinse salt water off with fresh water to prevent corrosion).

How long was it in the water for?

I tried to switch it on in the water, it did not work, I thought it may be out of power. After back room, I found water inside it. It was about 20 mins under water.
