How many tiles?

Hi,

how do I work out how many square metres my bathroom is (wall and floor) so i can work out how many tiles to get please?

Maths aint my strongest subject.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

    Measure the width by the length, multiply them together. So if the room is 2 metres by 4 metres, that's 8 square metres. If the room is not square or rectangular ( e.g. perhaps it's "L" shaped" ) then you divide it up into rectangles, measure the two parts separately then add them together. EG, If you have an L shaped room, one "leg" may be 1 metre by 2 metres = 2 sq m, the other leg is say 2 metres by 5 metres = 10 sq metres, so you need 12 square metres.

    When buying tiles, you need to allow a bit extra for wastage, cutting and breakages. I believe they usually reckon to allow 10% extra - so if you need 20 square metres, buy 22. If you end up not needing them, you'll have some spares to replace any that get damaged in the future.
