Hi all, can anyone enlighten me re: the difference between mp3 and ipod (i'm not very techie -minded).
I'd like to get one , somewhat in the middle of the range and at a reasonable price.
Thanks all

Mp3 is a type of file, a music file to be exact. Each mp3 is a song, so I may have the new Kasabian album. That album would be made up of 10 mp3 files, each one being a song within the album. I'd have these stored on my computer.
An iPod is a device that plays mp3's.
So they are related but are very different from one another.
Something like an iPod Nano would be a good starting point if price is of concern.

ipod is a brand name basically for an mp3 player.
I got a decent priced, large capacity mp3 player with all the stuff an ipod had for nearly half the price from Creative.0 -
Important thing with ipods is that they play .aac tracks that are available from itunes and can't really be used anywhere else. If you wanted to play windows media files then ipod isn't for you. Sony also have a propriety file as well. MP3 files themselves are just about the only universal file format that can be played on every digital music player but it's not the best for quality or compression."She is quite the oddball. iPods will play MP3 as well and you can set iTunes to rip your cd's to MP3 rather than AAC. If you buy music from the iTunes music store that is when it will be restricted to the iPodEver stop to think and forget to start again?0
