Nobody "plays the system" more than Npower & they are certainly not the victim in such cases, people leave them only because their prices are high & their service abysmal.

Is paying DD flexible for Gas and Elec by DD flexible every 3 months good or not?
At the moment I just pay by card every 3 months, the reason I haven't set up by DD, I don't want them to take my money for the usage I haven't used.0
