How long do you wait for payment before reporting non payer? I sold my first item on ebay on Sunday and the buyer said he would send the payment on Monday recorded delivery. It hasn't arrined yet, and i am not sure how long recorded delivery takes. He had really good feedback all saying he was a really quick payer etc.
Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks

You can't start a claim for non payment until day 7 so it is too early yet. Normally, depending on how I feel at the time, I would send a polite reminder email between day5 and day 7, and then look to start the NPB on approx day 10 (day 7 if th ebuyer looks likely to be a problem).
Can I just ask though how he is paying to warrant sending it recorded? You can't ask for cash as payment although a buyer can offer it, and cash is not insured for loss if sent recorded delivery anyway. If it is a cheque and he is being ultra cautious, then remember that it is a bank holiday on Monday so add an extra day on for clearing.

I believe you can't file a NPB alert until 7 days from auction end. You could either file the NPB on day 7 or I'd get in touch with the buyer about now and ask them if they are sending payment or not. I wouldn't tell them you are filing the NPB if they don't pay....just do it.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0

I send a message on day 7 such as - Hi, its been 7 days since you won an item of mine could you contact me to confirm that payment has been sent. Then I'd give them 48 hours to respond if no response I file an NPD. Some then pay, some don't.0

I read recently that a seller advised a buyer not to send payment via Recorded delivery, on the basis that it was like writing 'Cash or something valuable contained, please steal me' on the envelope.
Interesting thought. Why else would you send a flat envelope of no apparent value by a more 'secure' method? My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I recently sent some items recorded delivery and they took 4 days to be delivered to the buyer even though they were sent 1st class! Best to wait a bit longer before starting to worry. I recently had a buyer who took 8 days to pay but the money did come through ok.

I would wait until the end of the week or as other posters have mentioned until day 7 when you are able to start a chargeback - though I wouldnt do this for another couple of days after having contacted the buyer to say you havent received payment. This then gives the buyer time to respond.Weight Loss - 102lb0
