in Credit cards
I've just been refused a credit card by GE after following a tip from Martin's web site, on best cash back card.
I've never missed a payment only have two credit cards, always pay them off monthly, have a decent income and no risk to the card companies. They must make money through my spending with retailers, so what can be the problem?
Concerned that my credit rating is working against me, any one had similar experience and if so what can I do to help myself? Thanks

Hi there
Welcome to the credit card board!
Have you checked your credit file recently? If not, it's a wise precaution.
You may want to read the sticky on this before proceeding.
Let us know how you get on.

I was rejected by GE and many others have been on here. Dont worry about it or take it too personally, but as suggested above request your credit report from Experian just in case.0

Thanks for the reply, I'll follow the advice, GE did say in their refusal they would send me my credit rating, so I'll see what arrives!0

Are you sure they said that? and you aren't mis-interpreting their letter.
Seems unusual. Normally they don't justify themselves and it didn't say that in my letter.
I got turned down by GE (good credit rating).
I appealed, heard nothing back and you can't speak to their appeals dept on the phone.
I think they are a bit rude in not getting back to me.
Maybe they don't want my custom right now but they shouldn't burn their bridges.0 -
Wife applied for a PO card got turned down but got a GE card.

I was extremely taken aback to be turned down by GE, as well. That's a first! Annoying, but figure it may have something to do with having recently re-mortgaged. Will stick with Amex Blue for now.[0

Seems to be a running thing here, being turned down for GE. (balance transfer card)
I have checked my experian rating and it's all fine as far as I can see, so I guess I'll have to wait for the letter offering an explanation.
I just don't know how long to wait to apply for a different one.OU Student! - ED209, SDK125, DSE212, SK124, DSE141, SD226, DXR222, DD303, DD307 = BSc Psychology0
