I adore caulie's but can't justify paying well over a £1.50 each for one as I live alone. When the price gets too high then I buy a bag of frozen from the freezer shop No waste at all.I prefer fresh, but its just not a practical option

Thank you for all the wonderful ideas, in the end I made a yummy soup with the 'bits' I chucked them in some vege stock and peeled and cup up a couple of potatoes, also bunged in the florets I had left over. I added a bit of garlic and herb roule and some milk and it turned out yummy, got loads to freeze too, never again will I chuck the stalks etc.

Again thank you for your suggestions

I've been known to claim a bag of broc stalks in our local supermarket "for the rabbit" - there used to be a sign welcoming anyone to do so. Um, we don't actually any animals at home, but the bag of free stalks makes a welcome addition to the stockpot, soups, stir fries etc. And saves me a couple of € on my veggie bill!

Bung them in a Indian curry, chopped finely & sautead with some onion & mushrooms.I often add things to a take away curry to make it go further.I mean you get meat, cube or two of pepper & onion. That way I can strtch the meal farther.
