On Sunday I placed about 10 items on 3, 5 and 7 day listings. My Wife has managed to book some late flights for us to go to her sisters villa. We go on Monday.
The three day listing ones have been no problem . I have revised the 7 day listings down to 5 day but that means they will not finish until late on friday. This doesn't leave long for payment and only Saturday morning to post. As of yet these items have no bids - would are experienced ebayers end the listings or explain to buyers that they need to make payment straight way or they will have to wait a week? I know how buyers hate waiting. I don't really want to risk neg feedback for tardy service.
cheers

I think I would extend them to 10 days and add an explanation. I think the Friday closing ones will caue you a big headache!
You know how it is slow payers want immediate delivery.
One other thing (if want to run with a Friday end) is ensure you only take PayPal that might help and contact winners straight away possibly pull their details and give them a ring, you really want to post as many as you can on Saturday morning.
Alternatively cancel all or some?0 -
Personally I tend to be over cautious and would probably cancel the Friday auctions. Buyers don't read things, so even if you told them you were away they could still reasonably expect their item to be delivered within a week, and I think the chance of a disgruntled buyer is too high to risk.
Also, something I have noticed is that there are some buyers who delay payment so that a seller doesn't have their money too long before posting can be expected. For example, when I had my shop, people would BIN something Friday night or Saturday morning and not pay until late Sunday as they sort of assume that I will not be posting until Monday anyway so why should they pay too early and let me have their money for a full 2 days longer.

I am going away next Thursday and I have let all my auctions end, where I would normally extend them if I had no bids. I'm waiting for a couple of payments from last week, hopefully should arrive in the next couple of days. I didn't want to list up until the last minute because as said above once the buyer does pay they usually want their item asap. Better to go on hols with no worries and relist when you get back. Your items will probably make more then, its dead at the moment.0

cheers for the good advice, This is a great forum with really excellent posters. It's great to have this sort of help at hand.
As for this holiday thing, the villa became available at the last minute and for free. Only drawback is, we have to travel about 250 miles to Bristol to get a flight.
many thanks0 -
How long are you on holiday for? If you dont want to end the listing you could add to the description that you are due to be away on holiday for a bit and will process the items upon your return.
Personally though I would end the listings and relist on your return - rather than risk someone getting uppity because the slow service!Weight Loss - 102lb0 -
