Cashback and web security

Options
I am looking at getting a cashback card but most of my credit card spending is on the web.

Cahoot have a virtual card facility called Webcard which allows purchases on the web using a masking card number for their cards. Having been burned before by fraudsters, this has proved to be a brilliant tool.

Do any of the cashback cards have a similar facility? I know this is asking a bit much but one can always hope.

Cheers

It is certainly an interesting idea from Cahoot but as far as I know it hasnt been widely adopted yet.

There is of cause the downside that you cannot use it with a continuous payment authority which many people use for their subscription type purchases (eg web hosting, car insurance etc) as the number used to purchase the first installment will have expired when the second one is due and unless you remember to update it in time you may be hit by late payment fees/ have your subscription cancelled etc

  • That is indeed true, and I never use it for such monthly transactions. But it is excellent for other purchases.
