If you have an existing Income support/HB award the disability premium(s) can be applied retrospectively from the date you gained entitlement to a qualifying benefit. If this does not happen automatically you should write to the DWP requesting a supersession of your Income Support entitlement because of your DLA award straight away.0

When my DLA care rate changed to HRC, the premiums were backdated from the date my care rate increased to HRC.
Fill in the form (which is a very short and straightforward form) asap and it will be sorted out and the backdated money will appear in your account - mine appeared in my account a week or so before I received a letter from them.
If you know what premiums you are entitled to you can work out roughly the amount they owe you.0 -
If you live alone (no adults live with you) and no-one claims Carers Allowance for looking after you then you should be entitled to the severe disability and enhanced disabilty premia. As long as you're not on ESA you should also get the basic disability premium. It will be a big increase in your weekly incomeI'll get you, my pretty, and your little dog too!0
