2 Storey Extension

A few weeks ago we viewed a 4 bed house in our ideal location but were put off by the small kitchen and 2 of the bedrooms being too small for the children.
Now wondering if we could extend onto the back of the house to enlarge these rooms. Is this possible to take away the outside wall of the house?
Would be looking at 2 storeys, approx 25ft wide by only 6ft depth. Also is it worth doing it for only 6ft depth or should we make a little bigger. Don't want to take up to much of the garden.
Thanks

Hi,
we are doing exactly that. Our house is already extended, but we got an architect to come and look and tell us what he thinks we will get planning permission for. It is something to do with a 45 degree rule !?! Not that I know what that means, except it is how much it will affect your neighbours etc. and how far you can take the extension out. Ours was about 10 feet, but it is too narrow. Another 8 or 10 feet will be fab. If you search it on the internet, I bet it will tell you. Sorry I can't be any more help.0
