trying to work out tax credits.

can someone tell me if this is the right wat my tax credits will work out?

due my baby in sept, i will be on full pay from sept to end of jan 2011.
i have a partner and he has just received his p60's(he has 2 part time jobs = around 30 hrs p/wk) now one of his p/time jobs he only started in oct09 so the P60 says £3000. the other p/time job he worked for the full tax year and it shows £6000.

when i apply for tax credits someone told me you give your p60's and they work out your entitlement for the year. but his p60 will show less than he is going to get for this year if you see what i mean?

my p60 shows 17k but next year i will earn less as i will be on SMP for part of the tax yr 10-11. i think i was told that they disregard the first £100 of SMP. so looking at a calander ive sort of worked it out that my p60 for 10-11 will show around £14500.

do i ring as soon as ive made the application and tell them my approx income for 10-11 so they can update it and do i just "guesstimate" my partners income for tax year 10-11. totally having a heart attack about doing this as his wages are so up and down he works as much hours as he can but totally impossible to know what he will get?

please help!! do not want to end up with an overpayment etc im too much of a worrier!

tax credits award will be based on your household income for last tax yr, you will be able to give them a rough estimate for the current yr also to keep things upto date. if this yrs total household income will be lower they will take that into account if it will be higher it wont be taken into account until next april, hope thats clear enough!
