My broadband has been running slow for a while now and there's something in the router stats I want clarified.
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 448/1,344
What does this stat mean, those are the current speeds i'm getting? That's all my line is currently capable of?
Is it an indication that my ISP is capping my bandwidth/doing something to lower speed.
My service is upto 8Mb with a maximum in my area of 6.5Mb and i've previously had speeds around 5 Mbps until not long after my ISP was taken over by another and then speeds initially dropped to 0.2Mbps but are now around 1Mbps...

That is the speed your router is syncing and will be the maximum it could achieve at the time it was established. This is not something over which your ISP has any control except that a target noise margin can be set and even that is usually handled autoatically by software.
The 448 upstream sysnc strongly suggests that your connection is resold BTw upstream and if you have recently had some sort of hiccup on the line their systems can artificially reduce your speeds further than the 1Mbps it could currently deliver.
To make any sensible comment on what your line may be capable of or if there is any obvious issue I'd need to see all the rest of the stats - the most important being the attenuations and noise margins that go with the sync rates.0 -

If you've been turning your router on and off when you use it, or there's a dodgy connection or some other problem causing disconnect at your end, BT Wholesale Broadband will reprofile your line due to the disconnects. The speed will keep dropping until it gets to a stable connection or hits the minimum which yours has.
Been to my parents tonight and theirs was running dog slow. I found a dodgy phone socket, fixed it and it was still slow so I phoned the ISP. They confirmed over FIFTY disconnects in a 24hr period even though the router was constantly on. This had caused the automatic profiling to drop as low as yours. The ISP said the last connection (since I fixed it) at 30 minutes was the longest there'd been for about a week. In that 30 minutes, the sync speed had increased from 1344 to 2400-odd and the download speed doubled from 5k-12k/sec. ISP said it should be back to normal within 24hrs and to ring them if not.0
