Can people in a chain only pass the ball once each?

If not and you can pass unlimited times, why dont we just all start a chain and then add all our twitter names on this thread...then we all follow each other and at a certain time and day (I think the above suggestion of 18/6 is good but maybe between 5-9pm might be a better time frame?) we pass the balls like crazy! lol.

I think I have misunderstood something then. I thought that you could only start one chain each, therefore I have put off starting one until there were more people on my list. If you can start more than one chain yourself, then it would make sense to have a few practice goes, before the main attempt, IYKWIM. Anyone want to suggest a date and time for a practice run?

I'll bring forward the list of names that I compiled in an earlier post, in case that helps. If anyone wants to be added to this list or if I have got any details wrong, then please PM me.

If the 'ball' is dropped, the game is over. But you can start a new chain and try again.
Each person can only appear in a chain once

i take that to mean that you can keep starting chains and try as much as you want, but in each chain that you either start or are passed the ball you can only appear once, so you cant pass to me and me back to you for example, it has to go form me to someone new.

though no idea what happens if you try to pass to someone who was already in the chain.

i really do think if we all work form the same list, and in the same order, but with us all starting a chain and passing to the person below us each time (with person at bottom passing to person at top) then we have the most chance of one of them being the longest at the end, without giving any one the unfair advantage of being guaranteed the longest chain and thus guaranteed the starters prize......since it will then come down to the randomness of the last few passes as to whose keeps going the longest.

how about tomorrow evening for a trial run then? say 6pm so people are home form work etc? or 8pm so everyones had tea and put kids to bed? (ahem though of course in an evening we will be dealing with twitter over capacity probs lol)
  • This competition is a keepy uppy competition run by comet on twitter you must be registered on twitter to enter.together we can be in with a chance of winning this put your twitter name below and you pass the football to the next person the person in the lead has 23 passes i think we can beat that easily you get 2 hours to pass the ball or it drops lets see how far we can get

Good idea. I gather that Twitter is likely to have over capacity problems even more once the world cup starts, so we might need to have a decent stab before then, just in case we can't even get on to Twitter. Are we going to make sure however (for example by sending a PM) that the person we are going to be passing to is online when we try and if so, are we going to pass to the next person on the list that is online? What we don't want is to pass the ball on to someone that is at work for example. If we are always going to be passing to the same people, we could PM the person before us and the person after us on the list and find out when they are online. Or at the designated start time, we could get people to post on this thread to confirm they are online.
